Dr. Gaggan Basra

Dr. Gaggan Basra graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry located in Forest Grove, Oregon in 2006. During her schooling she also trained at the Fresno Veterans Affairs Hospital in California focusing primarily on ocular disease and therapeutics. Following graduation she returned back home to Vancouver and gained valuable experience working throughout the Greater Vancouver Area. The following year she moved to Calgary and soon after started working with the My Vision Calgary group. Dr. Basra has served patients at the Sunridge Vision Centre since 2008.

Prior to Optometry school Dr. Basra graduated from the University of British Columbia with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. She is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi and is able to conduct examinations in both languages.

Dr. Basra believes in the importance of listening to patient concerns to best address their needs. She has an interest in family eye care, including pediatric eye examinations, contact lens fittings and eye surgery co-management. She has been on many vision screenings examining young children as well as visiting senior homes. More recently she has enjoyed visiting local elementary schools and introducing children to vision and eye care.

In her free time Dr. Basra enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family. Recently she had the opportunity to travel to Tanzanian and summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Dr.Basra has also loved exploring Calgary and the surrounding Rocky Mountains.
