Dr. Sheila Poon graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2010. Prior to Optometry school, she graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Specialization in Immunology and Infection.
Dr. Poon's clinical training includes, but is not limited to, working at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, AZ which exclusively provided eye care to the Gila River and Pima Indians. She trained in a large ophthalmology private practice in Havre de Grace, MD, which focused on treating and managing ocular disease and on the co-management of pre-and post-operative eye care. In addition, Dr. Poon worked in the pediatric department at The Eye Institute at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA, where she had the opportunity to diagnosis and treat lazy eye, eye turns and focusing problems. Dr. Poon's clinical experience and passion has provided her the commitment to deliver high quality eye care to her patients.
Dr. Poon has a special interest in treating and managing ocular emergencies, offering advanced dry eye treatment options, as well as providing specialty services for her pediatric population. Dr. Poon continues to keep up with current research and technology to provide the most up-to-date eye care for her patients.
Dr. Poon has participated in several eye care mission trips including her contributions in Haiti, Mexico, and most recently, Burma. She has also volunteered her time for the Special Olympics in Phoenix, AZ and in Philadelphia, PA. She continues to volunteer in local and global communities treating, managing and preventing vision and eye disorders.
